Ochem exam tomorrow. Cracked the book briefly. Should do well.
Spring break starts tomorrow at 2:15. Probably before then since I have the exam.
Today I was walking across campus and saw one of the ground crew guys using the leaf blower. I started wondering if he stressed about his job at the end of the day. If he was happy with his career at the end of the day. I came to the conclusion that I would gladly quit school to blow leaves across campus. Then I read this and realized that I'm not the only one that feels that way and that I shouldn't give up! So thanks Dr. Michelle Au!
Massive bad weather yesterday. Like 5 tornado's touched down in and around Mobile. I've said before how the University of South Alabama doesn't shut down for ANYTHING. Literally. I have been going to school her since the Spring of 2009 and the only time classes have been canceled was when two transformers blew and a fire started. And that happened this semester! And my chem lecture wasn't canceled, he just wrote on the chalk board, no need for PowerPoint or power for that matter. My chem lab was canceled because it was in a room with no windows. You can't work in a lab with out ventilation. But seriously, it snowed last spring and class was not canceled. Snow in Mobile literally happens once ever 20 years. My first semester here, I was in class with a crazy storm going on outside and the sirens started going off and my professor acted as if nothing was happening. Kept on with her lecture and then when class was over said have a good day! These people do not take weather serious around here. A friend of mine was here during Katrina and he said that even though the city of Mobile was with out power for like a week or so but the University NEVER LOST POWER. I don't know how this is possible but it seems to me that maybe Alabama Power and you know, third world countries might want to get in touch with the power crew on campus. Cuz they apparently know their shit. So, the point of this is that as I woke up yesterday morning to gloom and doom and sirens going off, class was still on. I emailed my trig professor and told him that I was not going to be in class because of the weather and he wrote me back last night saying he thinks I made the right choice.
I was flipping channels on the radio today and came across an ignorant son of a bitch talking about the situation in Wisconsin. He made the comment that the teachers that were supporting their union on the state capital were all over paid state employees and that they should all be fired and subs should be hired in their place. Now, I don't know exactly how well the teachers do in Wisconsin but I do know that here in Alabama they don't make that much. It pissed me off to hear someone says that the people who are teaching the future minds of America are over paid lazy asses.
