I have been a huge slacker when it comes to keeping you guys updated. I've written about three entries but never actually got around to posting them. Sorry.
What's new? Well, I moved back in with my parents. It kind of sucks. I share a room with Attention Hog. That REALLY sucks. I've become the Kid's homework and school person. Putting that newly minted degree to use! I'm a volunteer docent at the Museum of Fine Arts. It's kind of awesome until I have to give tours. That's when I realize I know nothing about art unless it has to do with Neandertal art. And even then I don't know much. I'm working for a physician that I worked for before moving to Mobile. It's a nice steady income which is nice however it's not much more than what I made while in school and the hours are exactly the same. So that still sucks.
I've seen N.O.G. since I last blogged. I visited him in September. Fun fact: Los Angeles, California is the epicenter of hell during September. It was so hot! And this is coming from a girl who has lived her entire life in the South where the humidity is at 95% even in the dead of winter. I thought I was going to melt. And I want to know what kind of voodoo magic women in L.A. use to stay so fresh looking while wearing full make-up and LONG SLEEVED SHIRTS AND PANTS! These bitches were rolling around the city looking like the stepped out of the September issue of Vogue. I saw one woman on a bike wearing sweats. SWEATS! She didn't look like she needed to lose weight which is the only reason I can think of wearing sweat pants while exercising in the middle of summer in 95+ degree heat.
On the topic of N.O.G. I'm heading to Boston the day after christmas to see him and meet his family. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. I've gone over a thousand scenarios in my head of ways his mother will hate me which will lead to him breaking up with me. I bought my ticket Monday so I clearly haven't slept much. I'm excited to get to see Boston. New England always seems so beautiful in pictures so I'm looking foward to seeing the city.
I've narrowed down grad schools to 5. University of Southern Mississippi, University of Memphis, University of Colorado Denver, Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Los Angeles. Of course my first pick is one of the Cal State campuses. The Southern Miss program is a dream program. It's a dual masters in Anthropology and Public Health which is exactly what I want in a career. I've decided to apply to all programs, interview when asked, and accept whichever program gives me the most funding. That might push move in date with N.O.G. back but it's only two additional years. We've made it this far so I think we can make it a couple more.
In family news, Daddy Amazing and Incubator Girl are adding to their beautiful family. New baby will make his or her apperance around April. They find out sex around Thanksgiving so I'll figure out a Usual Suspects name once we've determined that.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. I promise to update better in 2014.
